For some years I have been working with a young man who has a particular talent for and love of drawing and model making. He has an autistic spectrum condition and finds formal learning environments difficult to engage with so our shared process is built around choice and opportunity. After making sure his sensory, emotional and physiological needs are met and he is ready to learn, my role is to provide materials, model their use and to find ways to support him in researching and reflecting on his work. Within this I have goals for him which I set according to his interests and progress but with no particular deadline or timescale in mind.
His Dad keeps a blog about his work which you can see here.
